Right-Wing Christian Group: Obama Our ‘First Gay President’
March 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)— A right-wing Christian organization, The Family Research Council headed by Tony Perkins, believes that much like former President Bill Clinton was often referred to, as the “first black President,” President Obama is the “first gay President” because of his liberal policies towards gay rights. It’s not unusual for the FRC, which is supported by many Republican lawmakers, to make outrageous statements. The conservative religious group held a “prayercast” in December to pray for guidance in the “life and death” crisis to our nation from healthcare reform. Read more
Rachel Maddow to Scott Brown: ‘You Need to Stop Lying’
March 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has reached the end of her rope with Sen. Scott Brown’s (R-MA) tall tales about her running for the U.S. Senate against the former nude Cosmo model. The freshman Senator, sent out a fundraising letter to out of state supporters begging for cash to help him fight off the threat to America posed by Maddow’s “far-left agenda.” Maddow debunked the rumors of a senate run on her nightly program multiples times, while her staff’s calls to Brown’s office went unanswered. Finally, Maddow took the extreme step of taking out a full-page ad in the Boston Globe condemning Brown for his “made-up threat of me running against him, to try to scare donors into giving him more money.”
Well, one would think that from either shame or humiliation in being caught in a blatant falsehood to shill for campaign cash, Brown would have ended his charade and moved on to another fundraising bogeyman. But you would be wrong. So, in a final act of desperation Maddow, on her show Tuesday night, pleaded with Brown to stop lying. Read more
Toby Keith, Like LL Cool J, Jolted by News of Fox News Palin Appearance
March 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-HaHaHa. Sorry for my gleeful snark, but Fox News’ latest foray in the fair and balanced department has run way off course. Is Fox News only capable of deception and promoting falsehoods? Toby Keith, a registered Democrat, is now joining LL Cool J in expressing his dismay at being made a part of Sarah Palin’s new show “Real American Stories,” without his knowledge or consent. “We were never contacted by Fox,” Toby’s representative told HitFix on Wednesday. The new show was billed as a vehicle to showcase Palin’s journalistic chops. The show debuts Thursday night, temporarily taking over Greta Van Sustern’s time slot. But Fox News’ promotional rollout of Palin’s new program has been a disaster, which doesn’t bode well for the final product.
This week, Fox News began promoting Palin’s, “Real American Stories, described as a program about people with “real-life tales of overcoming adversity.” It’s on air and print promotions, announced appearances by Toby Keith, LL Cool J and General Electric CEO Jack Welch, giving the impression that Palin personally interviewed the featured guests. But that isn’t the case. Fox News apparently planned to incorporate old interviews, given elsewhere, which the station owns the rights to. So, when LL Cool J learned of his supposed sit down interview with Sarah Palin, he was shocked. And he took to Twitter to denounce Fox News’ deceptive tactics:
“Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s Show. WOW,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
Fox News responded by removing his interview from the program, no doubt searching their archives for ancient footage of some other unsuspecting celebrity. But Fox News didn’t stop there. The network personally attacked LL Cool J using his given name, James Todd Smith:
“Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria,” a spokesperson tells TVNewser. “However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”
And today, Country singer Toby Keith, also discovered that his name and celebrity is being used to promote the likes of Sarah Palin and Fox News:
‘”Keith, who says he’s a registered Democrat, was not told about the usage of a past interview for Palin’s program. “We were never contacted by Fox,” his rep tells Hitfix.”I have no idea what interview it’s taken from. They’re promoting this like it’s a brand new interview. He never sat down with Sarah Palin.”‘
Unlike LL Cool J’s interview, Keith’s, so far, is still included in Thursday’s debut, of what should now be renamed, “OLD American Stories,” with cutaway clips of the former half-term governor of Alaska looking mavericky and folksy.
According to Media Matters, on its Web site Fox Nation, Fox News was blatantly misrepresenting Palin’s show thusly: “Palin Kicks off Fox News Series with LL Cool J, Toby Keith and More.” That promotion has since been taken down and replaced with “Sarah Palin Debuts Fox News Series, “Real American Stories.”
What about the remaining guest Jack Welch? His interview also seems to be an older clip, which will be spliced into some sort of Frankenstien program, to make it appear as if Palin had a hand in its production.

Obama Opens Up Offshore Drilling: ‘Part of a Broader Strategy’
March 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)— President Obama has opened up our coastlines, some areas for the first time, to offshore drilling, extending from the Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the north coast of Alaska. He is framing his decision, as a commonsense “part of a broader strategy” to reach his ultimate goal of achieving energy independence, while developing renewable cleaner sources of energy. But his pragmatic solution to our nation’s growing dependence on foreign oil, has outraged environmentalists, while drawing criticism from Sarah Palin’s right-wing “drill, baby drill” crowd, as not going far enough. Obama has excluded Alaska’s environmentally sensitive Bristol Bay, the Pacific Coast and the New Jersey coastline northward, from exploration for oil and gas. But at the same time, he is opening up 167 million new acres of ocean along the East Coast and about 130 million additional acres in the Chukchi Sea and Beaufort Sea in the Arctic Ocean north of Alaska.
Today, is either a very sad day for protector’s of our nation’s pristine coastlines, or a day of celebration for those who would rape our lands for a few barrels of oil or natural gas reserves. President Obama, believes he made the right decision for the good of our country, moving “beyond the tired debates between right and left.” But there are many Americans unhappy with his decision today. Catholic Apologist Donohue: Gay Priests, ‘Post-Pubescent’ Boys to Blame for Abuse
March 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)—The Catholic Church and its spiritual leader Pope Benedict XVI is under siege for a growing and global clerical sex abuse scandal that began in Germany with reports of a cover-up of rampant sexual abuse of children by priests, which leads right to the front door of the Vatican. When the Pope served as archbishop of Munich, then-named Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, he is accused of mishandling priest abuse cases, putting children at risk and failing to defrock an American priest accused of molesting 200 deaf boys in Wisconsin. But Benedict is fighting back against caims that he is personally responsible. Benedict, as well as other Catholic officials, have waged a campaign attacking the media, particularly The New York Times, which first reported on the Pope’s involvement in covering up abuse cases in Germany. Pope Benedict himself, at a Palm Sunday service, referred to the allegations against him, as “petty gossip of dominant opinion.” And Vatican officials called the allegations an “ignoble attempt” to smear Pope Benedict and his top advisers “at any cost.”
But the radical Catholic apologist, Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, took his defense of the Pope to a new low, by blaming the sexual abuse of children by priests, on homosexuality. You see, clerical pedophilia is the fault of the gays. But not only gay priests. Oh, no. Donohoe also takes aim at the “post-pubescent” victims, somehow suggesting that they are either willing participants, or they somehow lured the priests to abuse them with their “post-pubescent” gayness. And he makes the vile argument that sexual abusing pre-teen or teen boys is not pedophilia. Shameful! Read more
LL Cool J Says He Didn’t Do A Sit Down Interview With Palin
March 31, 2010

‘Missing’ Iranian Nuclear Scientist Defects to CIA, Now Enjoying the American Dream
March 31, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-Remember the reports back in June of a “missing” award-winning Iranian nuclear scientist, who suddenly disappeared while in Saudi Arabia for a pilgrimage? Well, it turns out that he has been safely ensconced in the welcoming arms of the C.I.A. all this time, while undergoing intense debriefing about Iran’s nuclear program. Now that the scientist Shahram Amiri, has given up all of his secrets and he is safely resettled in the United States, one can assume, under some sort of witness protection program, “people briefed” on the matter by C.I.A. officials have leaked details of the defection to ABC news.
