Obama to GOP: Stop Holding Small Business Aid ‘Hostage to Politics’

July 31, 2010

(ChattahBox)—President Obama used his weekend address to slam Republicans for filibustering a much-needed bill to aid small businesses with tax breaks and lending assistance, so the backbone of our economy can start hiring again. The entire Republican caucus in the Senate filibustered the small business bill, blocking the measure from an up-or-down vote. “That isn’t right,” said Obama. And he called on Senate Republicans to stop holding “small businesses hostage to politics.”

Obama made his remarks at the center of our nation’s auto industry in Detroit, during a visit to hail the success of the President’s plan to save the industry from failure during the near collapse of our economy. Obama pointed out: “There were leaders of the “just say no” crowd in Washington who argued that standing by the auto industry would guarantee failure.” Obama was there to announce they were wrong, dead wrong. The auto bailout worked, so now what do the critics have to say? Read more

Posecutors Find No Case Against Gore: Massage Therapist Not ‘Credible’

July 31, 2010

(ChattahBox)–The bizarre and contradictory claims of sexual harassment made against Al Gore, by a flame-haired middle-aged massage therapist four-years ago, are without merit, according to Portland, Oregon prosecutors. Molly Hagerty took her colorful tale to the National Enquirer, which prompted police to reopen the closed case against the former Vice President. Prosecutors found Hagerty’s story filled with contradictory statements and behavior, and a “lack of credible evidence.” It was also learned that Hagerty had failed a polygraph test given by a former attorney. And she refused to confirm to prosecutors if she had been paid by the National Enquirer for her story. Read more

Al Gore cleared in sex assault case

July 31, 2010

Al Gore-official-portrait-1994[ChattahBox] – In news that will cause sighs of relief that could dissolve half of the ice caps, CNN is reporting that former Vice President Al Gore will not face prosecution for alleged sexual misconduct.

The allegations, made by professional massage therapist Molly Hagerty, claimed that 62-year old Al made sexual advances during a therapy session at the Hotel Lucia in Portland, Oregon, on October 24, 2006.

The Portland Police, however, have closed their inquiries, citing “a lack of credible evidence,” according to the Multnomah County DA’s staff.

“After evaluating the materials I agree with the assessment that a sustainable criminal case does not exist,” Senior Deputy DA, Don Rees wrote in a memo. “Ms. Hagerty’s detailed statement is insufficient to support a criminal charge given the contradictory evidence, conflicting witness statements, credibility issues and lack of forensic evidence.”

Al’s staff at his office in Nashville, Tennessee promptly released a statement, saying the former VP was pleased with the outcome.

“Mr. Gore unequivocally and emphatically denied this accusation when he first learned of its existence three years ago,” they write. “He respects and appreciates the thorough and professional work of the Portland authorities and is pleased that this matter has now been resolved.”

And the moral of this story is, the only thing less reliable than a tabloid ’sex scandal’ are the people who sell them…

July 30, 2010

Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and House Republicans continues today, over the GOP caucus voting down the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, last night 255 to 159. Rep.
