Carol Bartz Named Yahoo CEO Replacement

January 14, 2009

California (ChattahBox) – Carol Bartz, a Yahoo veteran, has been named their new CEO, after a two month battle to find a replacement for Jerry Yang, who resigned his position after two crucial deals with both Google, and with Microsoft.

Her appointment has been announced over other candidates who were rumored to have been considered for the position, such as Susan Decker, the Yahoo President who is now resigning her own position. It is not clear when this will take place.

“Yahoo has been battered in the last year,” Bartz said in her first conference call with the companies senior analysts. “We will focus on being our best in geographic and vertical markets — and kick some butt.”

Her appointment is already creating increased hope in the company’s future, and stock quotes rose 3% after the announcement, putting them back in league for a possible reconciliation with Microsoft, which Bartz hopes will bring a new deal after the fall through in 2008.
