Forbes Billionaire List Shows Significant Losses For Those On Top

March 12, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – An interesting fact has been exposed by Forbes ‘Billionaire List’. Apparently, the bad economy is doing it’s part in taking down the big guys, as well as the little ones.

While most of us wouldn’t consider the fact that the average billionaire is only worth about $3 billion a cause for tears, it shows an alarming trend in the current recession: it shows that it really is effecting everyone.

In the last year, the average gross worth of the rich and famous has dropped by about 23%, and there are less then 800 who make the list, down from over 1,100 when the list was printed last year.

Even Microsoft genius Bill Gates has started feeling the crunch, after losing $18 billion in worth, a staggering amount to those of us living on an average salary. And he isn’t the only one. All in all, the complete amount of combined wealth for those who are worth over a billion has dropped from over $4 trillion to $2.4 trillion…yikes!
