Dem Wants Wall Streeters Geithner and Summers Fired

(ChattahBox)–Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), a leading member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus is not impressed with the Wall Street backgrounds of Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and White House economic policy director Larry Summers. Citing massive federal bailout giveaways to insurance giant AIG and Goldman Sachs, DeFazio is calling on President Obama to fire the two financial officials and replace them with an economic team that puts the concerns of ordinary Americans before those of Wall Street.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s the Ed Schultz show, DeFazio criticized Geithner and Summers for caring more about maintaining the status quo of Wall Street with its excessive bonus structure, than Main Street issues.
“I think there is a growing consensus in the [Democratic] caucus [that] we need a new economic team that cares more about jobs, Main Street and the American people than it does about Wall Street and huge bonuses,” said DeFazio.
DeFazio proposed reclaiming some of the unspent funds that bailed out firms paid back to the government and use the money to create jobs.
“We may have to sacrifice just two more jobs to get millions back for Americans,” DeFazio said.

Geithner, Friedman, Blankfein, Bernanke, and Summers have lost control over the ship “MV Scam the Taxpayer” and it is drifting without power and without rudder towards the shoals. Paulson, is bobbing helplessly in a lifeboat, all but forgotten.
Once this whole gambit sinks, it will be the end of an era.
Good riddance.
DeFazio is my Congressman, and he’s the only man in Washington that seems pretty honest to me.
