1.4 Million iPhone Users: We Would Happily Switch to Verizon

September 22, 2010

(Chattahbox Business News) – A new survey by Credit Suisse has shown that 1.4 million iPhone users who are currently on AT&T would make the switch to Verizon if they were given the option.

Rumors have been abound about the Verizon-Apple deal, which Bloomberg has reported will go through in January. This has not yet been confirmed, but after months of hearing about a possible service expansion, it seems likely.

This offers a unique opportunity for both Apple and Verizon: the service provider will get a chance to tap into a dominant phone market that has been monopolized through the iPhone by AT&T, and Apple will see sales from people who have uttered the words “I want an iPhone, but I hate the service.”

AT&T certainly has reason to feel nervous; 1.4 million users will double the current holdings by Verizon, and will lend a major blow to their sales and profit.

Users are even saying that they would break their contract to move to the other company, paying the steep fee to do so. Ouch.
