Owner of Segway Dies After Riding Two-Wheeler Off Cliff

September 27, 2010

UK (ChattahBox World News) – In what is a truly ironic death, the owner of the company that create the Segway -  a two-wheeled vehicle that can be ridden like a scooter – has died after riding on one of his products off of the side of a cliff.

Jim Heselden, the 62-year-old millionaire responsible who now owns the company Segway, was using one of their products designed for rugged terrain as he inspected his property in North Yorkshire. He apparently misjudged the distance from the cliff edge and ended up driving the Segway off of the side, and down to the river below.

Someone passing by found his body and called the police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The business owner was originally a miner, who ended up working on a number of military contracts. Several of his designs have become standards over the years, and earned him millions.
