Earthquake Strikes Turkey

(ChattahBox) – Another large earthquake has fatally struck. The pre-dawn earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6 struck eastern Turkey on Monday about 340 miles east of Ankara, the capital. Sinead O’Connor Rails Against Catholic Church: Burn it Down

(ChattahBox)—Outspoken Irish singer Sinead O’Connor once furiously tore up a photo of the late Pope John Paul II during an appearance on Saturday Night Live. And her relationship with the Catholic Church has only gone downhill since. The recent release of the Murphy Commission Report detailing decades of sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests in Ireland, which the Vatican covered up, has sent shock waves throughout the Dublin archdiocese. And Denis Brennan, Catholic Bishop of Ferns, decided to ask parishioners to contribute towards the cost of millions dollars of settlements the church was forced to pay to the victims of clerical abuse, by declaring it was their Christian responsibility. Sinead O’Connor was outraged by his request for money from the same families who were victimized.  And she wrote a scathing open letter to several Irish newspapers condemning Bishop Brennan and the entire Catholic Church, saying his request was “evil.” She also said the Vatican should be burned to the ground. Missionary Ordered Released, But Silsby Left In Haitian Jail to Wonder

(ChattahBox)—A Haitian judge ordered the release of one of the two remaining Baptist missionaries, charged with kidnapping and criminal association, from a Haitian jail on Friday. Charisa Coulter, 24, a member of an Idaho Baptist church, has been jailed since January when she was arrested along with nine other evangelicals trying to cross the border into the Dominican Republic with 33 Haitian children, without proper documentation. Last month, eight of the charged missionaries were allowed to leave Haiti without bond, but may have to return as the kidnapping investigation continues. The group’s leader, Laura Silsby will remain in a Haitian jail cell, until authorities can document her activities during prior trips made to Haiti, as she prepared her plans to “gather 100 orphans” off of the streets of the quake-ravaged country.
