People More Likely To Believe In the Paranormal Then in God?

December 1, 2008

United Kingdom (Chattahbox) – A recent survey done for the release of the new X-Files movie “I Want To Believe” gave the surprising statistic that while 58% of people believe in the paranormal, only 54% believe in God. Almost a quarter of those who were surveyed admitted to having a supernatural experience of their own, and 33% said that their response came from a belief in ghosts and aliens.

The popularity of the paranormal has certainly increased in recent years. With scores of shows such as ‘Ghost Hunters’, ‘Monster Quest’, and ‘Most Haunted’, it isn’t surprising that more people are tuning into the after life, and with psychics and mediums being featured on networks as prominent as CNN, they have plenty to opportunities to get their fill.

So, what does this mean? Will belief in the paranormal begin to dwarf that in religion over the coming decade? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: whether you believe in God or Little Green Men, there will always be something that gives us a sense of wonder.
