December 22, 2008

Australia (ChattahBox) – An Australian man who was caught possessing 70 ecstasy pills much have been on something when he came up with his defense. Steven Dwyer, 48, was also found holding a small amount of methamphetamine, which he plead guilty for, but he refused to plead guilty for the pills, stating that he had thought they were birth control pills for his dog.

He claimed that he had been outside of a laundromat when a man with a female shar-pei (the same breed as his own dog) had stopped to discuss breeding with Dwyer.

“We chatted about them – where he got them … we kept talking about dogs and how he bred her,” Dwyer told the courts. “And then we talked about his female coming on heat.”

The man allegedly told Dwyer that he used to use birth control pills on his own pup, but that he had gotten be neutered and no longer needed the ones he had in his car, and that he gave them to him free of charge.

The courts didn’t seem to believe his story, and he was given a 2 months suspended sentence.
