Woman Finds $10,000 In Annie’s Crackers Box

December 28, 2008

US (ChattahBox) – When mother Debra Rogoff walked into a Whole Foods, intending to buy her kids a box of crackers, what she didn’t expect to find was a bunch of green.

Inside the box of Annie’s Sour Cream and Onion Cheddar Bunny crackers was an unmarked envelope filled with $10,000, something that you certainly don’t find every day. Rather than spend the money, Rogoff and her family called the police, unsure of why someone would hide so much cash in such an odd place.

“We just thought, ‘This is someone’s money,'” she explained. “We would never feel good about spending it.”

The police suspected a drug drop, initially, but after some investigation it was revealed that an old woman had come into the Whole Foods a few days before, hysterical. She had put her life savings in a cracker box, and accidentally returned the wrong one to the store after attempting to exchange it. Whole Foods had restocked the item, and the Rogoff’s had been lucky enough to find it.

The old woman never contacted the family to thank them, but Whole Foods did offer the Rogoff’s a free box of crackers.
