14-Year-Old Arrested For Patroling As Cop

January 26, 2009

Illinois (ChattahBox) – a 14-year-old boy has been charged with impersonating an officer, after he put on a uniform, and went on patrol for five hours in a squad car.

According to the charge, the boy rode in the car, and all in all pretended be an officer, although he did not issue any tickets, drive, or carry a gun. At the end of the patrol, which lasted five hours, he was finally detected, as it was realized that he did not have a star on his uniform, as the other officers did.

It is being investigated how he managed to go undetected for so long, in an attempt to seal an apparent security breach.

Deputy Superintendent Daniel Dugan, the officer who rode with him in the squad car, said he looks much older, and seemed to be familiar with the protocols of policing, possibly due to the fact that he had once participated in a youth program that took interested youth in to teach them about becoming a cop.

He defended the boy, saying it was a desire to be a police officer that motivated his actions.
