Man Delivers Baby By Following ‘YouTube Instructional Video’

May 3, 2009

England (ChattahBox) – A man has made Internet history after delivering his baby son, all while watching an instructional YouTube video that helped give him the tools to do it.

Marc Stephens said that he became nervous after his wife began having strange pains. Living in a remote area of Cornwall, he felt he should be prepared to deliver the baby if the ambulance didn’t arrive in time, and his wife went into labor.

As it turned out, he had been right to worry, and four hours later his wife began to give birth, allowing barely enough time for her husband to scrub up.

“I woke Marc up and we phoned the midwife,” Mrs Stephens explained in an interview with the BBC, having woken up to contractions five minutes apart, and severe pain.

“But they were all so busy they couldn’t come round to our house and told us to call an ambulance. But before it arrived, it all started.”

Stephens stayed on the phone with the Midwife, but he felt confident that he knew what he was doing, after having watched a number of birthing videos that explained the process. Their son is happy, healthy, and Stephens said  “this is our fourth child now and while for our first I spent most of the time at my wife’s head, he is now unafraid to “go down to the business end.”
