    My great grandparents were tiny people, she was 3’8 and he 4’0.
    They were not midgets, nor were they dwarfs, they were perfectly proportional and lived well over 100 years. They had a rather large estate and rarely went in public.
    My grandmother was also a very small person, being 4’4, again not due to any disease process, but just very small, she is still quite active and as sharp as a tack, she is in her late 90′s.
    I have found other family lines with small people such as my own.
    My grandmother married a gent who was 6’2 and had ancestrial giantism in his family, the result is that my generation is of normal size, males in the 6’0 to 6’3 range, and females in the 5’4 to 5’10 range.
    I have great aunts near 7feet tall, and one great uncle who is just over 8 feet tall.
    No disease of the body or mind is carried by our families, though some of us are quite unique.
    I’m sorry that the child in this story has a mental defect, but please know that no mental defect nor other problem such as achondrplasia is automatically indicated by persons of both very small and very large stature.

    Could be primordial dwarfism…most of those with primordial are extremely small
