Dog Saves 11-Year-Old Owner From Cougar Attack

January 6, 2010

Canada (ChattahBox) – An 11-year-old Canadian boy from British Columbia is safe after his pet Golden Retriever, Angel, jumped between him and an attacking cougar.

Austin Foreman had been gathering firewood in the backyard of his family home when a cougar charged from the outcropping of trees.

His dog, an 18-month-old Golden Retriever, jumped in between them and ran at the cougar, while Austin ran inside.

He told his mother that a cougar was eating the dog, and she called 911.

A sheriff was patrolling nearby and took the call. Within a minute he was on the scene and fired two rounds into the cougar.

The wild cat had sunk it’s teeth into the dog’s face and neck, leaving her serious injured, but alive.

She is recuperating, and the family says that she has become their guardian angel.
