Women Try To Take Body Of Relative On A Plane
April 6, 2010
Germany (ChattahBox) – Two women have been arrested for trying to take the dead body of a relative onto a plane in Liverpool.
The women, both German nationals on their way home to Berlin, were the wife and stepdaughter of Curt Willi Jaranti, a 91-year-old man.
They had put him in sunglasses, and were trying to check him in, an odd detail of the story that makes it sound like a bad spin-off of ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ (as if the actual sequel wasn’t bad enough).
But both women claim that they had no idea he was dead, and thought he was only sleeping.
The women have been arrested, but they say that the whole thing is ridiculous.
“They would think that for 24 hours we would carry a dead person?” stepdaughter Anke Anusic said.
“This is ridiculous. He was moving, he was breathing. Eight people saw him.”
Jaranti has just gotten out of the hospital for pneumonia.
“He was released from hospital. He was fine. If he was not fine the hospital wouldn’t release him,” Anusic added.
“A dead person you cannot carry to Germany, there are too many people checking and security. How can you bring a dead person to Germany?”
