Teen Files Harassment Charge Against Mother For Facebook Hack
April 9, 2010
Lane New filed charges at the local courthouse against his mother, Denise New, in what is said to be the first social networking harassment case to be started by a teen to his parent.
According to Lane, his mother saw a post where he claimed to have driven 95 MPH back to his home after becoming angry with a girl.
She responded by entering his account and changing the password so he could not get in. She then posted several messages, and got into a verbal spar with her son and several of his Facebook friends.
Lane accuses his mother of posting personal details and lies about his life, impugning his reputation.
His attorney’s have stated that messages she left are enough to back up the harassment charge, but have not specified what they are.
Lane has lived with his grandmother for the last five years, due to his mother’s admitted mental health problems, following her divorce with his father.
Neither would comment to reporters about what the messages being called slander contain.
