90-Year-Old Man Faces Life In Prison For Wife’s Murder

May 13, 2010

New York (ChattahBox) – A 90-year-old man could face a 25 to life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife following what he refers to as “a dispute”.

John Bunz had been married to his wife Virginia for 68 years, and the two lived together in an independent retirement community.

According to the confession he gave police, he and his wife had some kind of argument. He then went and grabbed a hammer, and began to beat her repeatedly with it. He then suffocated her with a pillow.

A relative discovered her body, and that of Bunz laying in another room. He had attempted to take his own life.

He was transported to a local hospital and his wounds were treated before he was arrested for the murder.

Bunz is now facing 25 years to life in prison, though his attorney is arguing insanity as a defense.
