Naples Authorities: Pizzas May Be Cooked With Coffin Wood

May 18, 2010

Italy (ChattahBox) – In a truly disturbing accusation that is enough to turn anyone’s stomach, officials in Naples have claimed that bakery and pizzeria owners may be cooking over fires burned by coffin wood.

Gangs have been stealing from local cemeteries for years, and the latest trend is to steal the wood from dug graves for resell.

Police believe that oak is being used to cook food products, a horrifying thought to anyone in Italy who frequents this region’s pizza parlors.

“A gang might have set up a market for coffins sold to hard-hearted owners of bakeries and pizzerias looking to save money on wood,” an article in local daily paper, Il Giornale, said.

It might be time the people of Naples started eating in, at least until this is figured out.
