Man Killed By Tigers In China Wildlife Park

June 14, 2010

China (ChattahBox) – A man was mauled to death by tigers after he and his teenage son entered the enclosure to see the animals up close, officials in China’s Xi’an city said.

According to officials, the unnamed 45-year-old man had taken his 17-year-old son to the Qingling Wildlife Park to celebrate his completion of a difficult university entry examination.

The two walked into an enclosure housing five tigers, which is usually closed by an electronic gate.

The staff member in charge of controlling that gate is being investigated for his role in the deaths.

Staff went to rescue the pair, and by the time they got there the father had been killed. The teenager was pulled out in time, and suffered only mild injuries.
