World Goes Insane; Toilet Once Used By John Lennon Sells For Thousands

August 28, 2010

UK (ChattahBox) – It gives new meaning to the phrase “crap people will buy”; an overseas investor has bought a toilet used by John Lennon for £9,500.

The bid came from an overseas investor who has not been named, and is believed to be a private collector of Beatles memorabilia. But what is even more incredible is the fact that it was the highest of a number of bids from people who were desperate for the pointless bit of porcelain history.

From 1969 to 1971, John Lennon used the white toilet with blue floral print at his Tittenhurst Park apartment in Berkshire. It was a part of a larger lot of memorabilia that was being sold at auction that day, and was originally expected to fetch a thousand pounds, which still seems a little silly.

I don’t think it is unfair to say the investor flushed his money down the pot.
