June 29, 2008
Washington (ChattahBox) - Wall-E, the latest animated film from Disney and Pixar, went head to head opening up against the latest Angelina Jolie film, Wanted, this past weekend. In the end, it was the robot Wall-E who managed to come out on top, with Wanted just behind.
The Disney/Pixar film Wall-E managed to gross $62.5 million to top the weekend box office.
Coming in second was Wanted, which managed to take in $51.1 million in second.
This is impressive for Wanted, as it opened on 800 fewer screens than Wall-E.
The Angelina Jolie action film actually out-grossed Wall-E by $500 per screen.
Wall-E made up for the best opening for a Pixar film since 2004 with The Incredibles.
Wanted became the biggest opening ever for an Angelina Jolie film.
Coming in after these two juggernauts was Kung Fu Panda, and The Love Guru, as well as Get Smart.
