The Dark Knight has recorded the biggest box office movie release in history with amazing earnings....Washington (ChattahBox) – The Dark Knight has recorded the biggest box office movie release in history with amazing earnings.

The Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, took over theaters breaking the midnight opening record with over $18 million, smashing the old record held by Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.

It built on that by taking in $155.3 million over the weekend, making it the biggest weekend box office draw in history.

The Dark Knight beat out the old record-holder, Spider-Man 3, which took in $151.1 million just last year.

The Dark Knight has proven to be the movie to see this summer, starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, and others.

It topped openings of other big summer blockbusters such as Hancock, Iron Man, Indiana Jones, and others.

Coming after Dark Knight Mamma Mia! which took in $27.6 million in second. Hancock was in third with $14 million.
