Bernie Mac was admitted into the Northwestern Memorial hospital on August 1st, and was expected to fully recover.

The actor and comedian had been suffering from a disease known as sarcoidosis, which is an inflammatory disease that can have an impact on any organ in the human body. For Mac, it was affecting his lungs the most.

The pneumonia that caused Bernie Mac to go to the hospital was not related to this disease though in any way, according to his publicist Danica Smith.

It was just yesterday that his publicist came out and stated that he was in stable condition at the hospital, and was “responding well to treatment.”

He unfortunately has been confirmed to have passed away this morning at the age of 50 from “natural causes.”

Bernie Mac had been a busy man prior to getting sick, as he was working on a new Fox comedy series called Starting Under, as well as a new film which will release in November called Soul Men.

His past films include the Ocean’s Eleven movies, as well as the sequel to Charlie’s Angels, Bad Santa, Full Throttle, and others.

He also worked on The Bernie Mac Show, for which he won two Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations., as well as The Original Kings of Comedy.

He is survived by his wife Rhonda McCullough, their daughter, Je’Niece, a son-in-law and a granddaughter, Jasmine.
