The Dark Knight Takes Gold At Overseas Box Office

In the overseas box office, The Dark Knight has taken the top spot yet again, with a foreign gross now at $328.6 million......Washington (ChattahBox) – In the overseas box office, The Dark Knight has taken the top spot yet again, with a foreign gross now at $328.6 million.

The weekend total for The Dark Knight overseas was at $42.4 million in 61 markets, as the latest film in the Batman franchise reclaimed its spot at the top.

This came in a weekend where it gave up the top spot in North America, after holding the box office lead for four-weeks.

Beating out The Dark Knight this week in the North American box office was the new Ben Stiller comedy, Tropic Thunder.

Overseas, Universal’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor came in second behind The Dark Knight taking in $29.1 million.

In third was the musical, Mamma Mia! taking in $17.6 million, followed by Disney’s WALL-E, taking in $13.2 million.

For the Star Wars fans out there, the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars opened to $7.4 million in 22 markets.
