Dave Matthews Band Sax Player, LeRoi Moore, Dies At 46

The sax player in the Dave Matthews Band, LeRoi Moore, died on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 46-years old........Hollywood (ChattahBox) – The sax player in the Dave Matthews Band, LeRoi Moore, died on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 46-years old.

Back on June 30, LeRoi Moore was involved in a serious ATV accident, which left him in the hospital.

He was injured in the accident near the home of the band in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Some of the injuries he sustained from the accident included broken ribs, and a punctured lung.

Since the accident, he was forced to return to the hospital due to complications, and things got worse from there.

Moore joined with Dave Matthews back in 1991, and has been with him ever since.

The band put out a statement on their Web site Tuesday night saying “We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.”
