This loose remake of the 1970s classic Death Race 2000 is hoping to garner quite a bit of attention at the box office.

The film stars Jason Statham playing the role of Jensen Ames, who winds up being framed for the murder of his wife.

Why was he framed for the murder do you ask? Because the warden wants to make more money, and replace her star racer.

See, financial corporations have taken over prisons in the U.S., and a warden is making profit off of them by having these death races.

The races are shown on TV and PPV for profit, and are no-holds barred.

The warden, played by Joan Allen, frames him for the murder and makes him a new star racer.

If the prisoners win five races, they are told they can go free, but no one has actually made it through the races.

Needless to say, Death Race is poised to be the film to see this weekend for action-junkies.
