Bruce Springsteen to headline UK’s Glastonbury festival

February 23, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Organizers have announced Bruce Springsteen will headline Glastonbury, Britain’s leading summer music festival.

Glastonbury chief Michael Eavis says the The Boss ” will play the prestigious Saturday night main-stage slot on June 27. Springsteen is due to play an outdoor concert in London’s Hyde Park the next day.

The three-day event held on Worthy Farm near Glastonbury in southwest England, which this year runs from June 26 to 28, is the world’s largest greenfield music and performing arts festival. Glastonbury was founded in 1971 and is famous for its eclectic lineup — and the mud that overwhelms the site in rainy years.

Tickets for this year’s festival have sold out even though much of the lineup has yet to be announced. Franz Ferdinand will also perform at Glastonbury on Saturday 27 June. Tickets for the event have sold out, with a “very limited” number of cancelled tickets going on sale on 5 April.  Neil Young and Blur are rumoured to be headlining the other two days.
