Robin Williams to Have Open Heart Surgery

March 6, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Robin Williams was hospitalized a couple of days ago, due to experiencing shortness of breath on his “Weapons of Mass Destruction Tour, and now it’s been revealed the symptoms were pointing to a serious problem. Williams announced he needs surgery for an aortic valve replacement, which means he will undergo open heart surgery. The 57-year-old Williams is being cared for in a hospital in Miami.  Williams older brother died two years ago from heart surgery complications.  But this surgery is generally very successful.  Barbara Bush at 83, underwent successful open heart surgery to replace her aortic valve, just yesterday. We will report back when we have more details, and for now we wish Robin a speedy recovery.

    Dear Mr. Williams

I know, why so formal. Ok, Robin. I’m writing you this because you are the BEST at what ever you do. Plain and simple, you are great and this world needs you. Anyhow, just wanted to let you know I had the EXACT same operation (and I mean down to the last detail)February 25th. Mine was performed at the University Of Pennsylvania hospital. My problem was initiated by a bicuspid aortic valve that I was born with and began to calcify. I’m out riding bikes now. I’m sure you will be too. Don’t forget to do regular cardio exercise and I do mean regular. I was a competative triathlete for years and the surgeon said that made a difference now and will, even more so, in the future. Oh yes, I’m 62 years old.

    Best of fortune,
    Robert
