Report: Natasha Richardson admitted to hospital three hours later than initially reported

March 20, 2009

(ChattahBox) — The New York Times has a new story that casts doubts on the account that Mont Tremblant ski resort gave in regards to the late actress Natasha Richardson’s response and treatment after her fatal accident.  There is no dispute that her fall was an accident but there is some question in other regards including whether she was laughing and walking off her fall, as a resort spokeswoman said on Tuesday. The first paramedics to arrive at around 1 PM or so, were turned away after Ms. Richardson declined treatment as reported, but ambulance records show, they reported seeing the 45-year-old actress briefly from a distance. In that instance, they said they saw her sitting on a stretcher. Not exactly damning evidence to dispute the resorts statement.

However things get more disputable from there. Officials at Mont Tremblant said Richardson was taken by ambulance to the local hospital about an hour after declining the first ambulance complaining of a headache to an instructor and ski patrol member who accompanied her to her hotel. However, the ambulance record shows that it was not dispatched to Ms. Richardson’s hotel room until 3 p.m. (2 hours plus from the first call), and after 30 minutes of treatment (no report on why so long), it left the resort and arrived at the hospital in Ste. Agathe at 4:20 p.m. Bottom line is the extra time (more then 3.5 hours from the initial fall) might have made all the difference to doctors being able to perform surgery to stop the bleeding and relieve the pressure on her brain.
