Larry King reveals unknown Larry King Jr. offspring

May 22, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Call it ‘convenient amnesia’ if you like, or maybe proof the brain seizes up after your first millennium alive, but Larry King has decided to finally admit he has a previously unknown son.

The 75-year old media legend, who has been married eight times to seven different women and has at least two other children of whom he’s aware, presented his mislaid offspring to the world on his CNN show, ‘Larry King Live’ for the first time this week.

Born in November 1961, the son – also named Larry King – is the result of a brief marital link with Annette Kaye, and his dad’s finally admitted he’s proud. “The marriage was very short and she told me if it’s a boy, I’m gonna name him Larry King Jr.,” King Sr. told the NY Post. “Then I never heard again.”

The two first encountered each other in 1994, when Annette, who was then dying of cancer, called Larry Sr. and told him the news. They’ve been in touch ever since, but Daddy kept Junior hidden away. Asked if he felt any guilt about this, Larry was typically firm, “In retrospect, I should have told people, ‘There’s a chance there’s a guy out there with my name who’s my son.’ But I couldn’t call it guilt. Maybe a wonderment – but not guilt.”

In the fifteen years since that first meeting, Daddy King admits he’d told family and friends about his new child, but a public acceptance was oddly delayed until this week’s release of his book, “Larry King: My Remarkable Journey.”

Which is purely a coincidence, of course.

As for the child, Larry Jr. 47, is married himself, with three kids – to all of whom he admits. Since 1988, he’s been the head of his dad’s non-profit, the “Larry King Cardiac Foundation,” based in Rockville, MD. And despite all the lost years, father and son are said to get on very well.
