Michael Jackson’s Doctor Continues to Draw Scrutiny

June 27, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The sudden death of pop icon Michael Jackson, just 50-years old, already has all the makings of a media circus. Cable television stations have been running practically non-stop coverage, and yesterday the Web slowed to a virtual standstill from all of the traffic.

Most of the rumors and speculation are centered squarely on Jackson’s personal physician, Las Vegas-based, Conrad Murray who was with Jackson when he died and reportedly administered prescription medications, including pain killers to Jackson on a regular basis.

Today, the Telegraph is reporting that Jackson demanded that his London concert promotion company, AEG Live, pay a substantial fee to ensure Dr. Murray attended to Jackson around the clock during his upcoming concert tour.

Randy Phillips, president and CEO of AEG Live referred to the arrangement as “almost a contractual condition” that Jackson’s doctor personally attend to him in the United States and while touring out of the country.

Dr. Murray has been questioned by Los Angeles police in connection with an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jackson’s death. Los Angeles police say Dr. Murray is not considered a criminal suspect and he’s cooperating with police.

It has long been reported in the press that Jackson was addicted to several prescription drugs, including the painkiller Demerol and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax. Police say prescription drugs were found at his home.

The Jackson family lawyer, Brian Oxman, says he has been concerned about Jackson’s prescription drug use, comparing his death to that of Anna Nicole Smith’s who died from a prescription drug overdose.

“I warned everyone, and lo and behold, here we are. I don’t know what caused his death. But I feared this day, and here we are,” said Oxman.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery and Homicide Unit towed away a silver BMW from Jackson’s home, belonging to Dr. Murray to search it for possible evidence.

this is very sad i think that this doctor was not worried about MJ health just the money . we have lost must one of the most loved people in the world . this should be a wake up call for all people that are on pain pills to realize that pain pills are drugs and nothing good to will come out of this. i pray that his god comfort his family and these trying times.
