Michael Jackson’s 2002 Will Emerges

June 30, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The will of the deceased pop star, Michael Jackson has been the subject of much debate since his recent death, with copies of earlier wills produced by friends and family of Jackson’s, causing speculation that Jackson may have died without a valid will in place.

Now, a will from 2002 has emerged from Jackson’s lawyer, which is believed to be his final one.

The 2002 document was prepared by Attorney John Branca, who is also named as executor along with music executive John McClain, a longtime friend of Jackson’s. The 2002 will is expected to be filed in court sometime this week.

Details emerging from the will divide Jackson’s large estate between his mother, three children and various charities. On Monday, a Los Angeles court awarded temporary custody of Jackson’s children to Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson.

Michael Jackson had a bad relationship with his father Joseph Jackson during his lifetime and his father is said to be excluded from his will.

Michael’s estate reportedly carries about $500 million in debt, but remaining assets are thought to total around $200 million.

His major assets, include a 50 percent stake in Sony/ATV Music, Mijac, a publishing catalog of his own music and the master recordings of his albums, which will revert to Jackson estate within five years.

I’ve grown up with Michael Jackson and have had his music over the last 40 years of my 49 years. Unbelievable talent! I can’t understand, however, his predictable attachment to white women. Tatum Oneil, Brooke Shields, Lisa Presley, Debbie ( the totally unremarkable mother of 2 of his kids). I’m certain that if I had heard that he got married again it would have surely been another white woman. Is there not even ONE black female who is acceptable to him? And most of his dancers are always white. Is that just smart marketing? Most of the little friends seemed to be white too. But other than that, boy it’s been a wonderful run of great music!!!!!!
