Greg Norman and Chris Evert announce split

(ChattahBox) — Golf star Greg Norman and tennis great Chris Evert announced they have separated, Just 15 months after they were married, in a lavish ceremony.

The Hall of Fame athletes, famous for their public displays of affection, dropped the bombshell late yesterday via their reps. saying in a statement the pair had agreed to “formally separate”.

“The decision is a result of a great deal of consideration,” it said.

“The two have not indicated whether they intend to divorce.”

The announcement Friday comes three days before Norman is to captain the International team at the Presidents Cup in San Francisco, where wives of the captains take on a visible role.

The couple married after Norman’s ugly split from his previous wife Laura Andrassy, the mother of his two adult children, Greg and Morgan.

Norman, 54, and Andrassy settled their split in a deal that delivered her a cool $100 million.

Evert, 55, was married twice previously, most recently to Olympic downhill skier Andy Mill, with whom she had three children. They were divorced in December 2006.
