Glenn Beck’s Commie-Hunt Misses Murdoch’s Communist Ties

October 7, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Esquire Magazine has a great piece on Glenn Beck’s latest smear campaigns of demagogic “McCarthyism,” where he is determined to root out so called, commies from the Obama administration. But not surprisingly, Beck has yet to aim his commie-hunting antenna in the direction of his boss, Rupert Murdoch who has made numerous concessions to Communist leaders in China, all in the name of profits.

Last month Beck was successful in forcing the resignation of Van Jones, an attorney and environmental advocate who was serving in the Obama administration, as the Special Advisor for Green Jobs. Jones once unknowingly signed a 9/11-truth petition and combine that with an early history of left-wing progressive politics and a statement disparaging Republicans, that’s all it took for Beck to paint Jones as a dangerous Communist radical.

Beck’s first taste of commie blood, so to speak, only served to wet his appetite to uncover more dangerous radicals from the Obama administration:

“We need to at least in this country start having the necessary discussion of, Do we want communists in the United States government?” he ranted. “This guy is still a radical, just like Cass Sunstein and John Holdren and Carol Browner and Mark Lloyd and the list goes on and on and on. Now some in the White House may be uncomfortable calling these individuals radicals or revolutionaries or communists, but I’m not — America, when did we stop caring about communism?”

As noted by Esquire, Cass Sunstein, John Holdren, Carol Browner and Mark Lloyd are hardly radical Communists by any stretch of the imagination.

However, a powerful American media mogul who happens to be Beck’s boss never met a Communist he didn’t like:

“According to an extensive report in the New York Times, Rupert Murdoch has “flattered Communist Party leaders and done business with their children,” met repeatedly with senior members of the communist Politburo, “cooperates closely” with communist censors and propaganda networks, and “cultivates political ties” with communists in the hope that they will “insulate his business ventures.” Not only that, but he “often supports the policies” of communist leaders and “attacks their critics.”‘

Murdoch has repeatedly made concessions to appease government censors in China. He dropped the BBC news channel from the Chinese television network he owns, called Star TV after complaints from Chinese leaders, when BBC aired footage of Chinese authorities attacking unarmed civilians in Tiananmen Square.

Murdoch, in a blatant attempt to curry favor with Chinese Communist leaders, once ordered one of his publishing firms to release a volume of Communist propaganda glorifying Deng Xiaoping, the heir to Chairman Mao.

And Murdoch’s efforts to placate Chinese propaganda ministers have not been in vain. Murdoch has cashed in on his friendly relations with Communist leaders, by obtaining lucrative media contracts. Not to mention his business dealings with Cuba, “which harbors one of the many tax havens where he has hidden cash to avoid American tax laws,” according to Esquire.

Should we expect Glenn Beck to launch a commie expose of his boss Rupert Murdoch’s ties with Communist leaders any time soon? Don’t bet on it.

John H. Richardson of Esquire has much more on Murdoch’s ties to Communist leaders and Beck’s bizarre on-air antics.

Gee – when did Rupert Murdoch become a Government employee, appointee, or Czar??

Oh wait – he’s not. But frothing liberals don’t consider the difference between PRIVATE CITIZEN and ELECTED GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL.

By the way… exactly HOW many times has ChattahBox commented on GE’s CEO close ties with Obama, NBC’s overt lap-dog status to the White House, quid-pro-quo opportunities with Russia at the hand of Obama, etc??

Oh that’s right… NBC is a left-leaning org – no need to look here… just keep moving along, Right ChattahBox??

Jon – God, I love it when people call us things like ‘frothing Liberals’. I know it is meant as an insult, but I just don’t have it in me to look past my intense amusement and accept that. As a matter of fact, on my personal Facebook page I have long had ‘Rabid Liberal’ under my ‘Political Views’ section.

Thanks for the help and laughs, Conservative Right! Please, keep them coming, I need something to my ‘Religious Views’ section next, and ‘Indifferent’ just doesn’t seem to cut it anymore.

    Olivia,

    Glad I could entertain you.

I too had a great chuckle at your all-too-common approach of ignoring the substance of any comment and grabbing an insignificant tangential detail – just like when the White House tries to exoriate GB for citing the losses of the VANCOVER Olympics when he intended to cite CALGARY Olympics.

    WOW – good stuff, Olivia!

    Thanks for your comment Jon-in-CA.

Am I to assume from your comment, “Gee – when did Rupert Murdoch become a Government employee, appointee, or Czar?” that you believe that the Obama administration is infested with dangerous radical Commies? I’m curious if you also believe President Obama is leading us into Socialism, Marxism and Fascism?

Glenn Beck continues to lose advertisers, because of his hate speech, fear-mongering and embrace of bizarre conspiracy theories.

That’s fine that you prefer to don a tin foil hat every evening Jon and listen to the likes of Glenn Beck. But don’t expect us ‘frothing Liberals’ to respect you in the morning.

Do you watch anything else besides Fox News to get your information from Jon?

    Just wondering,

    Sue
