Marge Simpson is Playboy’s New ‘Tongue-in-Cheek’ Cover Girl

October 9, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Ay caramba! Move over all you buxom, silicone enhanced Playboy cover girl hopefuls, because bleached blond flowing tresses are out and a blue beehive is in. That’s right, Marge Simpson the long-suffering wife on the popular Fox series, “The Simpsons,” will grace the November cover of Playboy magazine in all her blue-haired glory.

Marge’s Playboy appearance is meant to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “The Simpsons” animated series, featuring the lovable, but dysfunctional family of Marge and Homer Simpson and their three children, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. “The Simpsons” has the distinction of being the longest-running comedy series airing on U.S. television screens.

Although Marge will be unclothed on the cover, her assets will be tastefully concealed behind a Playboy bunny chair. Inside the November edition, readers will find a three-page picture spread and a story, entitled “The Devil in Marge Simpson.”

Marge has the honor of being the first ever, cartoon Playboy cover girl.

Scott Flanders, chief executive of Playboy Enterprises, admits that the choice of Marge Simpson, as a cover girl was “somewhat tongue-in-cheek.” But at the same time, he is hoping the coolness factor of a beloved and quirky cartoon character on his magazine’s cover will attract younger readers to buy the aging men’s magazine.

The Playboy issue featuring Marge Simpson will hit newsstands on October 16.
