Family Group: Simpsons Playboy Cover Can Lure Kids to ‘Addictive Porn Habit’

October 16, 2009

(ChattahBox)—A conservative family group is denouncing the upcoming Playboy issue featuring cartoon character Marge Simpson on the cover, claiming that young boys confronted with such an alluring image may turn into hopeless porn addicts. And the group has targeted 7-Eleven convenience stores for selling the special Playboy issue with the blue-beehived Marge on the cover.

The “tongue in cheek cover” is part of an effort to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “The Simpsons” animated series, featuring the lovable, but dysfunctional family of Marge and Homer Simpson and their three children, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. “The Simpsons” has the distinction of being the longest-running comedy series airing on U.S. television screens.

Marge Simpson will appear unclothed on the cover, but all of her assets will be tastefully hidden behind a Playboy bunny chair, except for her signature blue beehive of course.

But the group, American Family Association is convinced that boys popping into a 7-Eleven for a slurpee would be exposed to harmful Simpsons porno.

Special Projects Director Randy Sharp believes 7-Eleven should remove the Playboy issue from store shelves to protect boys from its harmful influence:

“Most American dads know the dangers that porn represents to young males. It’s irresponsible of 7-Eleven to display porn in front of boys who pop into 7-11s for a hot dog or a Slurpee,” said Sharp in a press release.

“The cover will create the kind of curiosity that can easily lead [children] into an addictive porn habit. This is not what American families want to see in their neighborhood convenience store,” added Sharp.

Additionally, Monica Cole, Director of AFA’s OneMillionMoms.com threatens that moms would boycott 7-Eleven stores, unless the convenience store decides against selling the Simpsons Playboy issue.

“A lot of moms are going to shop somewhere else if 7-Eleven doesn’t do the right thing and refuse to stock this magazine,” said Cole.
