Has A Man Managed To Find Ansel Treasures In Garage Sale Purchase?

October 30, 2009

U.S. (ChattahBox) - After purchasing a number of photograph negatives from a garage sale, a man is claiming that they may have belonged to Ansel Adams, the famous photographer who is well known for his scenic photos of famous landmarks.

Rick Norsigian has been intending to buy a barber chair from the garage sale, but negotiations fell through. Instead, he picked up a box of photo negatives on glass plates that he liked.

The 8.5″ x 6.5″ pictures have generated a great deal of interest, especially after a handwriting expert authentication the writing on the back as that of Ansel’s wife.

But the grandson of the artist is unconvinced of the claims.

“Mr. Norsigian has been making these claims for a number of years and I have not seen convincing proof that they are Ansel’s negatives,” Mathew Adams was quoted as saying.

“People have been photographing Yosemite since the late 1800s and that fact there are glass plate negatives of images of Yosemite does not therefore mean that they are Ansel’s.”
