Mariah Carey’s Three Sheets to the Wind Acceptance Speech (Video)

January 6, 2010

(ChattahBox) — The expression and body language of Precious director Lee Daniels, kind of tells the story here.  Mariah Carey gave an acceptance speech that was both mind numbing and perhaps a cry for rehab help, in front of a star-studded audience at the 2010 Palm Springs Film Festival on Tuesday night. Mimi’s slurred and stumbled acceptance speech came after she won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role as a dowdy social worker in the critically-acclaimed drama Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

“Please forgive me because I’m a little bit… an audience member finished the sentence for her, to which she replied, “Yeah!” with a laugh. oh my goodness,” she continued the ramble before eventually thanking the flabbergasted audience for listening to her “spiel.”

Sean Penn immediately seized the opportunity carrying his drink with him onto the stage when he turned up to present T-Bone Burnett with the Frederick Loewe Award for Film Composing.

He said he intended to deliver the award “in absolute sobriety” so forgive me if I squeak,” Penn said.

Afterward in typical diva fashion, USA Today reports, Mariah the  kept press waiting, and would only be photographed on her right side.
