David Copperfield Cleared Of Rape Allegations
January 12, 2010
The unnamed woman claimed back in 2007 to have been in the audience during one of the magicians shows, where he spotted her from stage. He then asked her to join him on his island in the Bahamas.
Once there, she said that she found herself to be the only one with him there, and that he repeatedly assaulted her sexually, and struck her during her two days there.
When she went to the police they told her that they had no jurisdiction in the matter and ended the case.
She then went to the FBI, who began investigating.
Now, after several years, the claims have been dropped and Copperfield cleared.
His attorneys said that the claims, which were filed in a civil lawsuit, were an attempt at “extortion for money, plain and simple.”
