asrai...it's a free country...we can speak if we want to. if you don't like to hear others opinions...shut your doors..turn off the radio..turn off the lights...and just keep yourself locked up and keep your hands over your ears and close your eyes...then and only then will your opinion be the only one that matters.

Religious groups have the right to speak, to be in the public square, to debate. That's a right, not a privilege. Freedom of religion. Religion isn't some private activity to be excluded from public view. This is is simply presenting one woman's choice. Of course, Focus on the Family is conservative - why does that give it less rights than a gay dating service, or a web site developer?

Of course this is about politics -it's also about ethics, choice and information. The bias in this article is blatant. It states "women's groups" are against this ad. What "women's groups"? NOW? NARAL? Liberal women's groups, Pro-choice, pro-abortion "women's groups" may be, but all are not. Language is and always has been one of the ways the media makes the liberal agenda's viewpoint the norm. Until fairly recently, it was pro-choice and anti-choice. NOW was quoted as if it represented all women. However, based on its own tax returns, NOW has inflated membership numbers for years, and is dwarfed by the much larger, much more active Concerned Women for America. But when was the last time NOW was treated as just ONE voice or opinion? Look at the treatment of FOX news: radical right, conservative, dangerous. Yet, even their opinion shows have a variety of commentators: Alan Colmes, Juan Williams, Susan Estrich, Mara Liasson. Yet "Organizing for America" insults and demeans that reality, to the point of dismissing and denigrating Williams and Liasson who are nationally recognized and respected journalists. CNN dumps Glenn Beck, among others, and there's barely a ripple (and that ripple is praise). Fox drops Marc Hill and it's discrimination, right wing purification. The problem is the Fox dares to be conservative, when ABC, NBC, CBS and especially MSNBC see liberal political and social views as the norm. The reality is that most American are actually to the right of center, more and more young people are pro-life (especially in the latter stages of pregnancy) and we want more than political talking points passing as news.

MediaCurves.com just conducted a study with 602 viewers of a news clip regarding the Focus on the Family organizations’ Super Bowl ad. Results found that while the majority of viewers (62%) reported that the ad should not be pulled, pro-choice viewers were split on whether it should be aired. The majority of pro-life viewers (75%) indicated that the Super Bowl was an appropriate platform for controversial ads regarding social issues, while the majority of pro-choice viewers (66%) reported that the Super Bowl was not an appropriate platform.
More in-depth results can be seen at:

Two things:

CBS has a right to publish what it chooses to do. Shouldn't we trust the judgement of this station especially considering that we have not even seen that add yet, but are judging this advertisement on assumptions that could be completely false?

Gloria Allred, you may want to visit this site before saying things like that

www.un.org/esa/population/publications/abortion/doc/philippines.doc

Thanks to Punisher who first posted this on a comment on examiner.com for finding this.

I love how Ms. Allred is already planning to file a lawsuit and she hasn't even seen the ad, is just going off what's she read. She must be trying to revive her career, first she jumps into the Tiger Woods scandal and now this. Duh, false advertisement is all around us. Maybe if she figures that out, she can continue this fun bout of self promotion.

Whoever is making the decisions at CBS is obviously a dyed in the wool bible thumper. They have accepted this add while turning away adds for GoDaddy and manChrunch. Thanks CBS for turning the Super Bowl into an us or them situation comedy. By the way, whats the deal with Tebow's eye black with bible verses. No one from the NCAA is saying anything about it, but I would bet my house if a player showed up on the field with Praise Allah on his eye black this trend would come to a swift end.

Funny how people always think they have the "big" comeback answer/comment. There's only pro-choice or pro-life...oh really? Pro-choice doesn't mean choice, its the choice to choose death. Lets stop playing games people-talk about politics at its ripest. And, please get off the bashing of "religionist" things such as Focus on the Family - first of all, its a CHRISTIAN organization, not RELIGIONIST...if you're a Christian you know the difference.

Michael at 1:49 pm

Abortion was never "illegal" in the United States. Individual states could allow or not allow them. Abortion was legal in Oregon, for example, before Roe v. Wade.

If Roe v. Wade was ever overturned (it won't be), that would mean that it would again be up to individual states to keep it legal or to make it illegal in that state.

It's been projected that if this was to occur (and it won't), that most states would opt to keep abortion legal in at least most circumstances, and the number of clinics in the country that would have to stop doing abortions is about 11 clinics.

So, keep spewing and please hold your breath waiting for Roe v. Wade to be overturned, while contemplating what that would really mean (see above).

As someone said above, the terms are ProLife and ProChoice. Well, Tim's Mom made her CHOICE and we now experience the result. It doesn't matter if he actually goes on to the NFL or not, it doesn't matter if it was actually illegal in the PI at the time or not, the Pro"Choice" (the choice they want you to make is abortion) group doesn't want to see the choice of Life to be made and celebrated because it reduces their position, plain and simple. And a lot of them are acting out because they can feel the change in the political wind coming and they don't like it.
Gloria, generally I am entertained by seeing you when you get involved. Please take the time to get better educated on this issue before you make any more of a fool of yourself. I suggest you get some prayer counseling. I will lift one up for you in the mean time.

I am so sick about hearing about this so-called "news" and Gloria Allred! The ad is just that, an "advertisement". It is to push the agenda of Focus On The Family and it pays CBS. If another group had the money and wanted to run a Later Day Saints or Muslim ad right now, my guess is that they would run as well, and that people wouldn't be so offended. This entire issue is about the almighty dollar and not the content of the ad.

What is amazing to me is how Gloria Allred argues that the ad somehow lies to the American people, that what Tebow's mother says she experienced could not have happened and that "people want to watch the game, not the ads..". If she is so apalled by Focus On The Family's political involvement, perhaps she should show them by example how to stay out of the political arena and keep her left-wing political agenda to herself.

This is about money. So, let's not pretend that Gloria is really protecting anything, or for that matter, stands for anything. And, Gloria, don't speak for the American people, you certainly don't speak for me.
