February 14, 2010
(ChattahBox) – Former jockey and best selling crime writer Dick Francis has passed away at the age of 89.
Francis worked as a jockey during the 40′s and 50′s, and after his retirement went on to sell a well received autobiography, and dozens of best-selling novels based on crime and horse racing.
He has sold more than 60 million books, which have been published in 20 languages. His most recent two were co-written with his son.
“We share in the joy that he brought to so many over such a long life. It is an honour for me to be able to continue his remarkable legacy through the new novels,” Felix Francis said of his father when announcing his death.
One last novel, also co-written with Felix, will be released in the Fall.
Francis’ death was from natural cause, at his home in the Cayman Islands.
