Mike Daisey Takes On Steve Jobs In New Play

March 8, 2010

(ChattahBox) – Celebrated American playwright, Mike Daisey, has taken up the pen once more, this time writing a play about Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

The play, titled The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, is already generating a great deal of interest.

The story follows Jobs and his success as Apple’s CEO here in America, and the recent (and not so recent) controversy of the manufacturing practices in China, which includes recent allegations of running sweat shops with child labor.

A statement from Berkeley, where the play is set to be released in January 2011, described the show as an “epic story of a real-life Willy Wonka whose personal obsessions profoundly affect our everyday lives—and follows the trail to China where millions toil in factories to create iPhones and iPods.

“With his wry eye and eccentric intellect, Daisey delivers [an] adventure story that cuts deep with hilarious social critique.”
