Conan O’Brien on Comedy, Hugging, Akward Silence Tour
March 11, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-Since leaving NBC’s The Tonight Show, late night comedian Conan O’Brien has discovered Twitter, keeping his online fan base Team CoCo entertained and energized. And the red-haired comic recently announced his upcoming live comedy tour—Where else?—On Twitter of course. “Hey Internet: I’m headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour,” tweeted O’Brien. In less than 24-hours, many of the 30-city tour dates have already been sold out and O’Brien is adding second nights to many of his shows.
O’Brien’s tour is called, “The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour.” The tour name is a reference to his exit contract deal with NBC banning him from appearing on TV, until after Sept 1. A description of his comedy tour on the Team CoCo Web site, says it’s “A night of Music, Comedy, Hugging and the Occasional Awkward Silence.”
O’Brien released a statement, saying that he decided to go on “a massive 30-city tour or start helping out around the house.”
The tour kicks off on April 12 in Eugene, Ore., including later stops at Radio City Music Hall on June 1 and 2, Chicago, IL. on May 19 and 20 and Boston on June 4 and June 6. The full schedule is available at the team CoCo site.
The tour’s poster makes use of the original Team CoCo image created by Los Angeles artist Mike Mitchell, which depicts O’Brien with flaming red hair against an American flag backdrop.
