Conan O’Brien and Fox in Talks for Late-Night Show
March 22, 2010
(ChattahBox)—With Conan O’Brien’s recent discovery of the Twitter machine and preparation of his 30-city musical-comedy tour starting next month, he hasn’t had much time to plan for his return to television. But O’Brien is reportedly resuming his negotiations with the Fox Network for a possible comedy program beginning sometime in the fall.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the pompadoured comedian is back talking with Fox executives after a two-week hiatus. The two camps are working towards the development of a late-night comedy show, but there are no firm plans, as yet. And O’Brien is also considering a syndicated or cable show.
In the meantime, O’Brien had to turn down an opportunity to appear on Fox’s the “Idol Gives Back” program scheduled to air on April 21, but NBC put the kabosh on the deal, as it violated the terms of O’Brien’s exit deal with NBC. According to the terms of the exit contract, Conan can’t make any TV appearances until May 1 and he is prohibited from hosting a new show until September.
But O’Brien can take some solace in his upcoming comedy tour that has already sold out and a possible movie documentary of the behind the scenes goings on of the tour.
