Jimmy Fallon Tapped to Host Emmy Awards

May 4, 2010

(ChattahBox)—NBC’s “Late Night” funnyman and former Saturday Night Live cast member Jimmy Fallon, has been tapped to host the upcoming Emmy Awards.

With Conan O’Brien no longer with the network to host the 2010 Emmys Fallon is the likely choice.

According to The Wrap, there was some speculation that NBC would change course this year and choose a bevy of its comedic talent to host the awards show as a group effort, including 30 Rock’s Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, as well as The Office’s Steve Carell, but the logistics of that idea didn’t pan out:

“Some had thought NBC might try to enlist some of the stars of its Thursday comedy lineup to host the Emmys, though getting the most recognizable — Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin — would’ve come with a whole unique set of headaches, given all have busy movie careers and other commitments during summer hiatuses.”

Fallon, however is happy to step in. “Hosting the Emmys has been a dream of mine ever since they told me I was doing it,” he quipped.
