Rue McClanahan of ‘Golden Girls’ Dies At Age 76

(ChattahBox) – Rue McClanahan, who played the beloved character Blanche in the ‘The Golden Girls’ has passed away at the age of seventy-six.

This makes the third Golden Girl to pass away in as many years, with Estelle Getty’s death in 2008, and Bea Arthur’s  in 2009.

Betty White is the only remaining of the foursome.

McClanahan has had a rich Hollywood career, including a part with Bea Arthur on Maude.

She was also a writer, and published the book ‘My First Five Husbands…And The Ones Who Got Away’ in 2007, chronicling her life as an actress, her childhood in Oklahoma, and her six marriages.
