‘American Idol’ Lowering Age Limitations To 15-Year-Olds

June 21, 2010

US (ChattahBox) – Reality talent show ‘American Idol’ has chosen to lower their age limit by another year, allowing 15-year-old singers to join the cast for the first time.

For years, the age limit has been 16, allowing high school students to compete, and do any schooling that has to be done through tutors while on the show.

But younger and younger wannabe contestants have been vying for a chance at fame, and now they will have the chance to be on the popular talent show.

“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16. Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool,” Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer for the show, said of the decision.

The change will come into effect in time for season 10, the auditions of which begin on Jul 17th.

yeah cuz 15 year old are totally mature enough to handle all the pressures of hollywood. lets take a look at britney spears, jamie spears, lindsay lohan…why do we keep destroying our youth? plus your vocal chords (especially for boys) are not fully developed by the age of 15. you will be like the one singer who was awesome because he could sing high, then he hit puberty and now nobody knows who he is…i cant even remember his name…
