Texting Caused Plastic Surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan’s Fatal Crash?
August 18, 2010
[ChattahBox] – Yesterday news quickly spread that renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan, whose clients included Heidi Montag, Gene Simmons, Shauna Sand and ‘America’s Next Top Model’ winner Adrianne Curry had been killed in a car crash.
The 50-year old doctor was driving his Jeep along the Pacific Coast Highway at around 4.30pm yesterday when the car left the road for reasons that were unclear at the time. The Jeep landed on rocks, trapping Dr. Ryan inside and causing severe head injuries.
Just before the crash, Dr. Ryan posted a picture on Twitter of his dog, Jill, surveying the scene from the top of a dune they had just climbed. Jill
– a border collie – was injured in the subsequent crash, but survived. Ryan’s his ex-girlfriend Charmaine Blake, who is a a celebrity publicist, tells PEOPLE, Ryan’s family was told by investigators that the Tweeting caused the wreck on Monday. “He lived up in Malibu on a tiny street and he was texting while driving and he accidentally went over the cliff,” Blake says. She adds that she hopes other people learn from this tragedy that “people should not text and drive at all.” The California Highway Patrol confirms Ryan was texting before the crash, but investigators have not ‘officially’ determined the cause of the accident.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, Dr. Ryan entered private practice in Beverly Hills in 1994 and performed one of the first ever makeovers on live TV.
His most famous makeover may be Heidi Montag. In January, Heidi revealed to the press that Dr. Ryan had performed ten plastic surgeries on her in a single day. Among them were a brow-lift, ear-pinning, chin reduction, a nose job and a second breast enlargement procedure.
