Bush stated that the only possible fix would be to suspend federal gasoline taxes this summer. This could give some type of relief as the prices per gallon continue to go up.

This comes as the average gallon of gas for Americans is now above $3.60 according to reports.

With the rising gas prices, Americans may be less likely to travel, spend as much money on big ticket items, etc. This all causes harm to the economy.

Bush stated during a news conference “I firmly believe that, you know, if there was a magic wand to wave, I'd be waving it, of course. I've repeatedly submitted proposals to help address these problems, yet time after time Congress chose to block them.”

Gas prices in many U.S. cities are now above $4 per gallon.
